Gavin Spurrier released a statement on June 17th through his agent, regarding criticism from some supporters over the last few weeks, here's what he had to say:-

"Streetly 1st team captain Gavin Spurrier angrily denies reports of negative batting in their last two Warwickshire cricket league games."

"These supporters particularly Russ "Red Bull" Pinner and Rob "Bud" Cook seem to lack knowledge of the game.  If you cannot win the game, the idea is not to lose it".
